The past year I have been working my
way through a new reality. I joined the Canadian Armed Forces 15 Dec
2018. Since then I have been learning as much as I can about the
military. One new reality is keeping my opinions concerning
government to myself. It is for that reason I have not posted
anything for almost one year.
However, on a global scale I am still
of the mind that we are lacking any sense of direction towards a
better world. In the pas decade we have millions of people who are
forced to leave their own countries due to complete mismanagement,
which in many cases has deterioratied into civil war. As I think of
this I am often brought to a very popular quote:
‘Many forms of Government have been tried, and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.…’Winston S Churchill, 11 November 1947
The part of the quote I often think about is this - No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Since we know it is not perfect, there must be another system which is? Or, are we not intelligent enough to fully allow the basics of democracy to be implemented? For me, I am usually one who looks to the person using the system before the system being used.
